If you have any queries relating to the running of the plant, operation and maintenance of equipment, testing or training, please feel free to give us a call or post a question at the bottom of the page. The following questions and answers are the most common queries we receive and may be of help. If you have any suggestions or information regarding problems you have faced and already solved that could help other operators, we would like to hear from you. |
| Q. I have sludge floating on the surface of the settling tank in my package plant. |
A.
There can be a number of causes, but the most common ones are:
|
| Q. I have just taken over the treatment plant and don't know what we've got. |
| A.
Find the Operating and Maintenance (O&M) manual that would have been supplied
with your plant. Study this carefully then contact us with your queries.
If no manual can be found contact us and we can assist you by writing a new manual. Epco's historic knowledge of systems that have been used by many makers over the years, enables us to develop O&M manuals for Epco and non Epco systems. |
| Q. How do I know if my plant is fully loaded? |
| A.
By obtaining accurate hydraulic and biological load information.
Hydraulic data is obtained by flow measurement, both total daily flow and instantaneous flow rate. Biological data is gained by having raw wastewater and treated effluent samples analysed in a NATA registered laboratory. Epco can direct you to appropriate expertise in this area. Without this accurate data any conclusions about the plants loading is guess work. |
