Dissolved
air flotation plants are suitable for industrial effluent as well as
domestic sewage.
The use of a full or partial
pressurisation system depends on the type of waste liquor being treated
for example, an industrial effluent may require full pressurisation
whilst activated sludge thickening may only require partial pressurisation.
Factors that need to be
considered include particulate matter concentration and solids loading
rate.
The efficiency of the process
is determined by the size, number and velocity of the air bubbles and
the effectiveness of the surface skimming system.
Dissolved air flotation
is a continuous process, but as it is not a biological one it can be
shut down for a period of time when there is no sludge to process.
