Applications - RBC

The Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) is a mechanism where a series of rotating semi immersed disks provide a media for beneficial bacterial growth.

RBC can be made to produce higher quality effluent by the addition of auxiliary upstream equipment such as aeration and anoxic zones, followed by downstream settling tanks and disinfection equipment.

Environmentally the RBC plant has much to recommend it because of a lack of odours and a lower electrical power demand than that required by a package plant. It is also well suited to remote sites where the level of technical expertise and ready access to maintenance facilities is limited.

To be able to make an equipment recommendation best suited to your site's requirements, we need the following data:

  • Number of people to be served
  • Type of community i.e. mining camp or small town
  • Effluent quality required by statutory authority
  • Location of the site.

Examples and further information are shown in section entitled RBC
