Applications - Gas Control

Gas control is an important aspect of the digestion process for three principal reasons, namely:

Safety, because digester gas is flammable, therefore dangerous unless handled correctly. The gasses are also poisonous to humans and animals.

Environmental
, fugitive gas emissions are a concern from a greenhouse gas standpoint .

Odour Control,
to avoid the presence of unpleasant odours around the sewage plant.

Process consideration dictate how much gas is used or reused and how much is burnt to atmosphere.

Because of the variety equipment involved in gas control the initial questions we would need to ask would relate to:

  • Gas volume per day
  • System pressure and vacuum levels
  • Use of gas
